KIN Supervisor | Kinesiologist and Aquatic Therapist
Carlee Sturrock
Carlee is a certified and practicing Kinesiologist. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Kinesiology and is a member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK).
As a Kinesiologist, Carlee is particularly interested in active rehabilitation including aquatic therapy and fitness programs. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and training with her clients and takes pride in their empowerment.
Her expertise and strong communication skills make her an excellent supervisor at Sahara Rehab to all the Kinesiologists. She provides support in all active rehabilitation programs as needed. More importantly, Carlee’s caring mannerism makes her a highly valuable member of a clients’ road to recovery.
When not working with clients, Carlee enjoys hiking, yoga, swimming, and dance.
Kinesiologist
Dean Ellenwood
Dean has a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science & Health with distinction from the University of Idaho.
Dean was born and raised in the Langley area. His passion for health and fitness has been cultivated from a young age. He was heavily involved in soccer, hockey, basketball, and track & field. Dean has competed for Team B.C multiple times, as well as Team Canada at the Youth Track & Field World Championships held in Cali, Colombia where he earned a bronze medal in the 4×400 meter relay. Dean’s track & field career led him to a Division 1 scholarship at the University of Idaho, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health.
For the past couple of years, Dean has gained experience in multidisciplinary clinics working with neurocognitive-restricted clients, children with disabilities, and numerous other chronic conditions. He was also a Peer Health Educator at the University of Idaho where he gave speeches and held workshops about the benefits of exercise and nutrition.
Dean has seen and experienced the impact that limited range of motion, chronic conditions, cardiac issues, and serious injuries can have on a person’s quality of life. As a result of this, he is passionate about making a significant difference so people can continue to do the activities they love and is excited about helping clients be as independent as possible.
Dean has been a BCAK certified kinesiologist for over 3 years now.
Kinesiologist
Ka Cheng 'Belle' Lao
Belle has been a part of the Sahara Rehab team as a practicing Kinesiologist since 2015. She graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and is a member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK).
Belle is excited about helping her clients to reach their personal rehabilitation goals and provides support to help them live a healthier life through exercise. As a Kinesiologist and a Certified Personal Trainer, she is creative in her exercise approaches and always aiming to provide a “just right challenge” to her clients.
She is fluent in Cantonese and conversational Mandarin.
During her spare time, she enjoys playing volleyball, watching movies, and taking landscape and food photography
Kinesiologist and Rehabilitation Assistant
Jason Duong
Jason has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Active Health & Rehabilitation from Simon Fraser University.
Jason struggled with a poor relationship with food and a negative self-image throughout his childhood and teenage years. Through his own fitness/weight loss journey, he learned that he has the ability to take control of his own health and discovered the profound impact exercise can have on one’s life. He found that it can be a powerful tool that demonstrates that with effort and dedication, anyone is capable of being and feeling like a better version of themselves.
Jason’s interest in health and fitness inspired him to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Active Health and Rehabilitation at SFU. He also completed a certificate in Occupational Ergonomics which aided in his understanding of how one’s work affects their overall health.
In recent years, Jason has been focused on working as a Kinesiologist with residents of long-term care homes with a variety of chronic conditions. His experience working with people with severe functional limitations has further proven the idea that exercise can improve one’s quality of life. Whatever a client’s goal may be, Jason is eager to use his experience and knowledge to support them towards it.

Kinesiologist and Rehabilitation Assistant
Jamie Purdy
Jamie has a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in neuromechanical and physiological sciences from The University of British Columbia. Jamie also has a diploma in Sport Science from Douglas College.
Jamie gained interest in rehabilitation, health, and fitness at a young age. Being a multisport athlete, and participating in high-performance soccer and volleyball, she faced many injury setbacks. Because of this, she saw many health and fitness professionals. This showed her how interesting and important the world of rehabilitation is as she began stepping into rehabilitation by attending Douglas College and studying Sports Science. Here she obtained the knowledge pertaining to athletics, and how one’s body can properly strengthen and rehabilitate.
Sport Science inspired her to further her studies and expand to other streams. This is where she was fascinated by Kinesiology, specifically neuromechanical and physiological sciences. During her time at The University of British Columbia, she learned how to address rehabilitation for numerous populations.
As a 2023 graduate, she was eager to step into Kinesiology work. As a member of BCAK, she has gained experience working with Physiotherapists to help individuals improve their overall health and well-being after injury.
Jamie’s goal is to provide individuals with the opportunity to gain ideal health and function to improve their quality of life and is passionate about providing individuals with the opportunity to return to tasks of daily living, leisure, and work.

Michael Lam
Michael graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelors's Degree in Kinesiology and is a member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists. He also has a Diploma in Sports Science.
Michael has a passion for helping others return to their pre-injury lifestyle. Michael is experienced in rehabilitating clients with motor vehicle accident sustained injuries. He also has experience with Gradual Return to Work Program and Personal Training. Outside of work, he enjoys participating in many different sports, playing video games, and travelling.
Michael is fluent in Cantonese and also able to speak Mandarin.
